From the mountain station of the trassXpress, the hike leads over rolling alpine meadows and through picturesque forests up to the Maurerkogel (2,074 m). Once at the top, a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the surrounding mountain peaks awaits you. After a pleasant break, we return to the Schmittenhöhe - a mountain experience not to be missed!

Discover the special features of the Trog Valley and its glistening green mineral treasure: the precious emeralds, along with a National Park Ranger on the Emerald Trail. You will also learn how stone searching works and where exactly searching is allowed. Keep your eyes open for golden eagles and marmots and enjoy a cozy stop at Alpengasthof Alpenrose at the end of the tour. Then you can decide whether you want to hike back into the valley with the forester or prefer to take the emerald cab.

Immerse yourself in the fascinating landscape with dark swamp pools, majestic giant trees and romantic clearings that create an atmosphere like that of a green jungle. Learn more about this natural jewel at the end of the Raurisertal valley from the experienced foresters of the National Park. On the way back along the forest road you can not only enjoy the picturesque landscape, but also stop at one of the numerous restaurants.

Deep in the heart of the Hohe Tauern is a true rarity: the show mine Hochfeld. Since the 1990s, the former mine has been converted into an interactive exhibition that now offers interesting insights into the geology of the Alps and the history of the national park. 

On a guided tour, you will learn how the Tauern Window was formed, how rock formations developed over millions of years and what role mining played in this area. A special highlight is the vernissage "Inner Life" by the artist Mag. art. Michael Alexander Seywald, which is currently on display in the tunnels of the mine.

When you enter Kaprun Castle, it feels like you are traveling back in time. Century-old walls tell of knights, counts and turbulent times. The first mention of the castle in documents dates back to the 13th century, but its history probably goes back even further. 

The tour of the castle begins at 5 p.m. and is accompanied by exciting stories about the building's history. After this, you can explore the castle rooms, the castle museum, the dungeon and various photo points on your own. A special highlight is the highest point of the castle, from where you have a unique view of Lake Zell!

Großglockner panorama and hike to the Seidlwinkltal valley! Start in Rauris by bus and enjoy a ride with a National Park Ranger along Austria's highest panorama trail - a unique view of the majestic mountains surrounding the Großglockner! The hike begins at the Mittertörl and leads steadily downhill into the Seidlwinkltal valley. Via the Labböden and the Litzlhofalm you will reach the Rauriser Tauernhaus in the early afternoon, where the tour ends. The return trip is best done by cab. An impressive nature experience!

After this, you can hike through the impressive natural landscape to Enzingerboden or opt for a comfortable ride on the cable car.

Every Wednesday, yoga teacher Monika Rauter invites beginners and experienced yogis to a special yoga session on the mountain. After a short hike to a picturesque viewpoint near the Schmitten summit, the yoga mats are rolled out. Surrounded by mountain flowers and alpine meadows, you can enjoy strengthening asanas and relaxing breathing exercises - with a panorama that relaxes body and mind.

Discover the pristine beauty of the Sulzbachtäler wilderness area. First we take the national park bus to Abichlalm, where the tour begins. The trail leads through a thin larch forest to the Aschamalm. From here you can explore without a path the heart of the Sulzbachtäler wilderness area to the impressive Untersulzbachkees. The hike goes back along the same path. Experience the pristine nature of this untouched landscape. It will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

In 1986, the first bearded vulture was released into the Alps in the Krum valley. The goal was to reintroduce the once extinct "king of the sky" in our country. On the excursion through the wild and romantic Kruml Valley, you will learn interesting facts about the large birds of prey. During short stops, telescopes will be set up to search the mountain ridges for birds. With a little luck, you can spot bearded vultures, griffon vultures, monk vultures, golden eagles and other wildlife.

Experience the power of water in the Schösswend Gorge, where the current has been cutting through the hard rock for thousands of years and has created impressive erosion phenomena and potholes. You continue hiking along the gorge to the idyllic Hintersee and learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the Hinterer Felbertal valley. On the north side of the lake, the circular hike leads to a lookout point over the end of the valley, where with a little luck you may see chamois. The return trip takes the same route.

The trail leads to Lake Ötzlersee, where you officially enter the Hohe Tauern National Park. The trail continues along a narrow path along the Schöderbach towards Arlscharte, deeper and deeper into the national park. At the end of the hike you will reach Schödersee, a special mountain lake that is called a periodic lake because of its natural, underground outflow and only fills with water during melting snow and heavy rainfall.

Follow the babbling Hollersbach along the idyllic brook-leather path to the Senningeralm. Through the rustic Grauerlenau with mosses, ferns and the impressive greater coltsfoot, the trail continues into the spruce forest, where bright yellow lichens and, with any luck, water sprites can be seen. Shortly before the alm you pass historic drystone rock walls, then the valley opens up to the vast alpine landscape at the Senningeralm. Here the tour ends - time for a relaxing stop or the return trip.

After 385 meters altitude, you will reach the entrance to the Krimmler Achental. This is where the tour ends. You can decide whether to hike further into the valley or return past the waterfalls. After this, you can explore the castle rooms, the castle museum, the dungeon and various photo points on your own. The forest rangers will share their passion for nature with you, tell you about their work and show you how together we can preserve these treasures for future generations. 

It is not for nothing that the rangers are the national park's signpost. They know this protected area like the back of their hand!

After a short cab ride to Finkau, the hike starts on a well laid-out trail to the Leitenkammerklamm. From the viewing platforms you will have an impressive view of the roaring gorge. Along the stream you can spot dippers and yellow wagtails. Via the Trisslalm a path leads through rustic pine forests up to the Wildkar Hochalm. The return trip takes you along the scenic Leitenkammersteig back to the starting point. A real nature experience!

Picturesque landscape surrounded by three-thousanders - On a well-constructed forest trail, the tour leads from the Tauernhaus to the picturesque Käfertal Valley, below the "Großes Wiesbachhorn" with its impressive glacier world. Observe the inhabitants of alpine meadows and pastures, including about 300 species of beetles and nearly 200 species of large butterflies. At the end you will find a Kneipp facility and a water playground for the little ones.

Rural, beautiful and very sensitive - the guided hike with a national park forester leads through the primeval forest of the Wiegenwald to Lake Schwarzen Lacke. Along the way, you will learn a lot about the local flora and fauna. The picturesque moorland pools invite you to linger there, while along the path you will have wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and their reflections. The tour ends back at the starting point.

At the end of the tunnel, breathtaking panoramic views await you from the platform of the National Park Gallery. Here you can admire the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain.

At the Edelstein Park in Niedernsill, you will find gold nuggets and 80 different gemstones from around the world at the various stations.

If you like fishing, this is highly recommended, but it is also fun if you have never done it before. Guidance is available.

A fishing rod can be rented for €5.70 euros and you pay 2 euros for the fishing card for 1 day. Bait you can use from there. You can fish unlimitedly, but you are obliged to keep the fish you catch.

Innergeschloß

A scenic half-hour route with tractor with trailer to a nostalgic village at the foot of the Großvenediger.
Lovefully look around the village and then return on foot. Also good to do with children.
A very nice walk with lots of photo opportunities.

The horse-drawn carriage was replaced a few years ago by the panorama train. It runs every hour in the Gschlößtal from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to the Venedigerhaus Innergschlöß; it returns every half hour from the Venedigerhaus Innergschlöß to the Matreier Tauernhaus. The single fare for adults is €5.00 to the Außergeschlöß, €7.00 to the Innergschlöß; children up to 12 years of age pay €3.00; the group fare (from 20 people) is €12.00 per person round trip.

The length of the course is 1300 meters. Total sailing time from start to finish is about 12 minutes.
