The Krimml Waterfalls are an impressive natural phenomenon, not only in summer. Due to their shady location, very few rays of sunlight reach the falls, creating beautiful ice formations in the right temperatures.

During the cold and snowy winter months, deer and roe deer can't find enough food. In ice stick shooting according to the old Pinzgauer tradition, both adults and children try their luck by shooting the ice stick as close as possible to the target (Dotz'n). The deep snow-covered landscape of the rear Raurisertal – known as the Hüttwinkltal – is perfect for exploring with snowshoes. This moderately difficult tour offers magnificent views of the Sonnblick and the Ritterkopf. In the snowy winter landscape, you'll often discover various animal tracks that reveal the winter life of the native fauna.

Every Friday, the mountain guide will take you from the summit of the Schmittenhöhe to the Maurerkogel – far from the slopes and surrounded by unspoiled nature. The crunch of snowshoes will accompany you as you enjoy unobstructed views of the imposing Pinzgau mountain ranges.
Lace up your warm hiking boots, pack a warming drink, and get going! Snowshoes and poles can be rented on-site for a small fee.

- WINTERWALD Snowshoe hike
Every Friday from January 2 to April 3, 2026 – Rauris
Participants will be taken by shuttle bus to the Lenzanger car park, from where they will embark on a beautiful snowshoe hike through the Rauris Urwald forest. The walk through snow-covered, ancient pine and spruce forests truly brings the magic of winter to life. The return journey will be made by toboggan.
Note: Snowshoes and hiking poles can be rented from the NP Administrator. Please indicate this at registration if needed.
